Today our day will end climbing aboard the airplane that will be taking us to Newark and then home to Richmond.
We spent the morning getting ready. Laura and I kept having to repack our suitcases so they didn’t weigh over 50 lbs. I put my heavy hiking boots and Keens in my backpack. I was still over weight. I took out the hazelnut spread I bought and was still over weight. Laura was doing the same thing. In the end, we gave Mom some of our things to put in her suitcase.
We left the hotel and headed to Kibbutzim Hill in Rehovot where the bullet factory is located. The Bullet factory is an underground museum that shows how the Israelis made bullets right under the noses of the British from 1946 to 1948 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Machon_Ayalon,) when Israeli’s won their independence from the British. They began the tour with a movie that describe how the workers came to be there and how the factory was established. We then went underground to see the actual factory.

From there we headed to the airport. There were several things we had to deal with; returning the car, turning in the forms for the V.A.T. refund, and returning the rented sim card from my phone. We did this way faster than we thought possible. We then went to check in but found that the window for United Air did not open until three hours before the flight so we went off in search of “lunch” since it was 5:00 and we were very hungry.
The rest of our evening has gone very smoothly. We checked in to drop off our checked luggage, really glad to not have to deal with the large suitcases any more. Going through security was a breeze, we didn't have to take off our shoes or take the liquids out of our luggage. I only had to take my laptop out of my backpack. Once through, we walked down to the gate where Mom volunteered to sit with the all of our stuff while Laura and I checked out the duty free shop. We are now waiting to board the plane.
I hope you have enjoyed coming along on this adventure with me and my family. I know that I have enjoyed writing this blog. It has helped us remember our trip. Mom was just asking what we did on the first day of our trip with all of our adventures running together. I was able to pull out my notes.
Please join me again for my next adventure.
